EPE foam, or Expanded Polyethylene is extremely versatile as it is easily shaped, formed, routed, and cut to size in the same way as Kaizen Foam. It is dust-free (does not powder), is non-abrasive, is inert, and resistant to fuels and oils. EPE plank foam is semi-rigid, yet flexible and pliable. EPE foam comes in different density including 18Kg/Cm3, 25Kg/Cm3 and 30Kg/Cm3. This listing is for the medium density 25Kg/Cm3 and is referred to as EPE-25.
EPE foam is widely used in tool storage, and as inserts in plastic injection molded cases as well as custom flight cases. These Closed Cell Foam Sheets are used for thermal insulation too, having a high thermal resistance of 0.033W/m.k. Its closed-cell structure is moisture-resistant.
Compared to EVA foam, EPE is less durable, not as resilient but with better thermal properties. It also does a better job of absorbing impact. As a result, EPE and EVA foam have different applications in road cases as well as other products.
