A road case was designed to house a Smart Frame Counter with
timber laminate surrounds. Smart Counters include HD Fabric prints, Top MDF
black laminate panel, side MDF black timber laminate panels and internal shelf
with extrusions. The Smart counter can be disassembled into four panels and six
aluminum extrusions. Armor Cases have been given the task to design a case that
will house these items for Motion Australia, who have over one hundred branches,
workshops, and service centers across Australia. The smart counter would mainly
be used for presentations and meetings. The case would need to be secure and provide
adequate protection to the counter pieces as well as being organised so that the
user can assemble it together easily.
Finished Case Features
These mounts are made from p901 plywood and are CNC machined to fit the shapes of the aluminum. The mounts are secured to a p1201 plywood wall on both sides vertically similar to a tool rack so that each piece while being secure can be easily removed. TS50 straps are added to further prevent the extrusions from moving and is unlocked with a snap release buckle. The P1201 wall uses a tendon joint on a p901 plywood frame which is the skeletal structure of the case.
The SIGN-MA-2000SC case is designed so that the aluminum and the laminated panels are well secured and protected. Rather than having the extrusions sit in a foam cutout, we have designed custom mounts for each frame. This gives the advantage of a well oragnised case, allowing ease of access to the aluminum frames. It also prevents them from hitting each other during transports, which will stop them from accumulating scratches or surface damage.
The laminated panels on the other hand are place vertically into slots made from p1201 plywood for rigidity and 30mm of EVA38 foam which will provide impact dampening as well as preventing the panels from scratching. These will also be joint on the outer wooden frame for stability. The lid of the case feature eggshell foam which will provide a soft support on the top of each item.
Hardware
Armor H1101 handle are found on the sides of the lid and base which are used for moving the case around as well as lifting the lid off the base.
L2102 butterfly latch are used to secure the lid and base together.
6x Carjet 75mm swivel castors are used to easily move the case, including brakes.
TS50 Straps are adjustable and are used to create enough tension to secure the aluminum frames on their mounts, providing extra security to the items.
